New Perspectives - Frequently Asked Questions

General FAQs

  • New Perspectives contracts several apartments near Utah Valley University, and within a 15 minute walking distance of all New Perspectives buildings. Clients will sublet from the program (included in monthly tuition) as they begin with the goal of independent living in mind. Students may live with a staff mentor, other clients of the program, and/or community adults of similar age.

Clients don't have to live in New Perspectives apartments! Sometimes students prefer to find their own apartment nearby. Talk with our administration team at info@npya.net about the different levels of service available.

Students are expected to treat their time at the Kreative Space like a job. They clock in and out, and receive a stipend for their work as they practice executive functioning, emotional regulation, etc., in the context of a workplace.

Students learn to make, market, and sell their own products. Currently the Kreative Space has a woodshop & warehouse to support woodworking, resin pouring, painting & digital art, soap making, sewing, and more.

  • Yes! Each of our employees is SafeZone trained to learn how to provide a welcoming environment to LGBTQIA+ people.

Many of our students and staff identify as LGBTQIA+, and we strive to create a safe space for everyone in our community. Each year, the Kreative Space students attend many pride events as vendors to sell the products they have made.

Medical Care FAQs

  • Not necessarily! Our wellness coaches will assist in looking over each client’s situation to determine the best alternatives.

Clients will receive assistance finding new doctors and transferring medications, etc. regardless of insurance company or coverage.

  • Because New Perspectives is community-based, staff do not have eyes on our clients 24 hours a day.

Clients have access to their therapists and staff members through messaging, and an overnight staff mentor is available for emergencies.

  • Our wellness coaches support clients with their medication management, including keeping medication in a locked central location when needed.

Students will work 1:1 with staff over an individual timeline to learn how to manage their own medication, including how to speak with doctors and make appointments, explain the reason for taking each medication, call into a pharmacy and pick up medications, get necessary pre-authorizations, recognize and explain side effects, and more.
